Illegal Land Alteration of Siheung Land Purchased by LH Employee

Restoration Order Issued 2 Years Ago, Yet Still Unchanged

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] It has been confirmed that illegal land alteration was carried out on land in Siheung-si, Gyeonggi Province, purchased by employees of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), but it has not been restored to its original state for over two years.

According to Siheung-si on the 8th, it was discovered at the end of 2018 that about 10 meters of the access road to a 5,000㎡ farmland at 341 Mujinae-dong, purchased by four LH employees and others for 1.94 billion KRW in April 2018, had been altered.

On the detected land, saplings have been planted, and part of the access road is paved with gravel. The city ordered the landowners to restore the land to its original condition, but when this was not carried out, three additional reminder letters were issued by the end of last year.

The city explained that since the restoration has not yet been completed, the restoration order remains in effect. Siheung-si has not yet imposed a compulsory execution fee for restoration, judging that the altered area is not extensive and the alteration is not serious.

A city official said, "Although the illegal act is not severe, if the gravel removal and other restoration are not carried out continuously, a compulsory execution fee will be imposed according to procedures."
