[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Park Ki-nyung, deputy spokesperson of the People Power Party, demanded an apology regarding Yang Hyang-ja, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, suggesting immunity for voluntary reporting in the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) speculation scandal.

In a statement on the 8th, Park said, "Yang should immediately apologize for her remarks on immunity in the LH scandal."

On the 6th, Yang posted on Facebook, "A voluntary reporting period is necessary. Those who report within the period should not be held responsible but must forfeit speculative profits. However, those found to have speculated after the period should bear the maximum legal responsibility."

In response, Park criticized, "I don't know where such absurd ideas come from. If someone pursued financial gain using insider information, it is clearly a criminal act. On what authority does she grant immunity?"

Park added, "Responding to the LH scandal with such a complacent attitude makes it seem like there is no will to resolve the issue from the public's perspective. Instead of granting immunity to those who report during the voluntary reporting period, harsher punishments should be imposed on those who fail to report within the period."

He continued, "The parts festering under the government and ruling party's failed real estate policies are now rotting away. It is now the remaining task for the Moon Jae-in administration to acknowledge the total failure of real estate policy and expose and excise the rotten parts of the regime."
