Assemblyman Lee Byung-hoon Selected for ‘Saetteul Village Project’ Contest in Gyerim-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Congressman Lee Byung-hoon announced on the 8th that Gyerim-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, was selected in the 2021 Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project contest hosted by the National Balanced Development Committee, securing 4.9 billion KRW in national funding.

Through projects such as the "Creating the Hope-Connecting Blue Ant Village" on 34,899㎡ around 649 Gyerim-dong, improvements in living infrastructure are expected.

According to Congressman Lee, this contest result was achieved through a project plan prepared in consultation with Dong-gu, Gwangju, and local residents, along with his cooperation.

With this project selection, Dong-gu plans to improve residential conditions from this year until 2024 by ▲ renovating old residential environments ▲ installing parking lots within residential areas ▲ implementing a human care system ▲ expanding living infrastructure, creating a better neighborhood for local residents.

Additionally, to promote residents' self-driven residential environment improvement and income increase, cooperative organization development programs and the Youth Village Workshop will be established to create voluntary operation programs, while projects such as the construction of the Blue Harmony Center and the "Blue Ant Parklet" alley regeneration will be promoted.

Congressman Lee said, "Urban regeneration projects within the Asia Culture City development project have begun in earnest," adding, "This year, practical projects of the 'Asia Culture City Comprehensive Plan,' including cultural industry sectors and cultural urban environment creation, will be steadily implemented."

He continued, "The alleys of the original downtown are important resources for urban regeneration, and we must implement urban regeneration strategies that preserve the city's original form while maintaining residents' comfortable lives and enabling income generation for their livelihoods."
