[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong Middle School, which has been relocated from Saengcho-myeon to Sancheong-eup in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, and renovated as a boarding hub school, has started the new semester.

According to Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, on the 8th, the newly opened Sancheong Middle School was established as a boarding hub school by consolidating four schools: Sancheong Middle, Saengcho Middle, Gyeongho Middle, and Chahwang Middle. With a total project cost of 33.5 billion KRW, it was relocated from the former Saengcho Middle and High School site to the current Sancheong-eup.

The school consists of a three-story main building for classrooms, one building for the auditorium and cafeteria, and two four-story dormitory buildings. It is equipped with state-of-the-art buildings and facilities, including a natural grass sports field.

Sancheong Middle School first opened in 1927 in Oksan-ri, Sancheong-eup. Following the consolidation process, it first opened at Saengcho Middle in March 2018 and newly opened this year on a newly established site.

On the 2nd, an entrance ceremony and opening ceremony were held with the participation of all students, including new students.

The entrance ceremony was conducted via dual live broadcast to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with the theme "Together yet Apart": first-year students participated in the auditorium, while second- and third-year students joined from their respective classrooms.

Prior to the entrance ceremony, at the end of February, a new school tour event was held to address the educational community’s questions about the newly built school facilities and to help students smoothly adapt to the new semester.

The tour event was conducted over three days in a "walking through" style, where participants moved on foot inside the school buildings and facilities for a brief viewing, in order to prevent COVID-19.

Principal Jeong Han-gyu said, "I hope that students of Sancheong Middle School will grow into global talents not only in Sancheong but beyond, here on this beautiful campus equipped with advanced facilities."

Meanwhile, Sancheong-gun is promoting support projects to improve educational conditions for local students, including a uniform purchase subsidy of 300,000 KRW per person for new middle and high school students and first-year transferees, as well as an education support card project for children from low-income families in elementary, middle, and high schools.
