Park Young-sun "I did not go to the burial site"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Ahn Cheol-soo, the People’s Party candidate for Seoul mayor, criticized Park Young-sun of the Democratic Party for Seoul mayor, saying that "her candidacy itself is a secondary harm." He also raised his voice, saying that Park’s apology regarding the sexual crime case of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon lacked sincerity.

On the 8th, before the ‘International Women’s Day Ceremony’ held at the Air Force Hotel, Ahn met with reporters and said, "I am angry at Park’s insincere apology," adding, "If she has a conscience, she should expel the three complainants?Nam In-soon, Jin Sun-mi, and Ko Min-jung?from her camp."

He continued, "If she truly felt sorry for the victims, she should not have run," and pointed out, "Isn’t she the one who followed the funeral and even the burial site of the former mayor? Her candidacy itself is a secondary harm."

In his congratulatory speech that day, Ahn said, "The regression of awareness and safety issues regarding women’s rights throughout society is also revealed in the sexual crime cases of those in power," mentioning, "Sexual crime cases involving former Chungnam Governor Ahn Hee-jung, former Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don, former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, and former Justice Party leader Kim Jong-cheol have occurred consecutively within the Democratic Party and the broader ruling coalition."

He said, "Sexual crimes by elected high-ranking officials are crimes committed through overwhelming power," and pointed out, "The bigger problem is that even civic groups and women’s organizations sharing specific ideologies and camps have formed a cartel of silence, and furthermore, they do not hesitate to inflict secondary harm on victims by even coining the term ‘complainants.’"

Meanwhile, regarding the report, Park stated, "Today’s remarks by Ahn are not true," and explained, "Park did not go to the burial site of former Mayor Park."
