The Korea Communications Commission Supports 'Broadcast Advertisement Production and Transmission' for 95 Small Business Owners

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Korea Communications Commission announced on the 8th that it has selected 95 small business owners as the first round of beneficiaries for this year's "Local Community-Based Broadcasting Advertisement Activation Infrastructure Project."

Allocations were set for seven regions including Busan·Gyeongnam, Daegu·Gyeongbuk, Daejeon·Chungcheong, Gwangju·Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Gangwon·Jeju, and the Seoul metropolitan area, with 70 companies selected first, and the remaining 25 companies were selected regardless of region.

The industries of the selected small business owners were led by accommodation and food service businesses (33 companies), followed by wholesale and retail trade (18 companies), and food manufacturing (9 companies).

Applications were accepted from January 29 to February 15 through the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation's dedicated website for small business broadcasting advertisement support projects, with a total of 209 small business owners applying. Among them, after excluding companies with incomplete documents or disqualified qualifications, 174 companies were reviewed from February 24 to March 3.

The selected small business owners will receive support covering 90% of broadcasting advertisement production and transmission costs, up to a maximum of 9 million KRW. Additionally, they will receive systematic support for overall marketing, including broadcasting advertisement production and transmission, through one-on-one customized consulting.

The KCC plans to select 41 more companies in the second round in July, supporting a total of 136 companies this year.

The KCC and the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation have been conducting related projects since last year to promote the growth of small business owners and revitalize the local broadcasting advertisement market. The total support budget for this year is 1.22 billion KRW.

Small business owners who received support from related projects last year saw an average sales increase of 13.5% and an average employment increase of 27.2% compared to the previous year, despite the crisis caused by COVID-19.

Han Sang-hyuk, Chairman of the KCC, said, "We will continue to implement support policies that small business owners can feel and that help local broadcasting, so that business performance continues."
