[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] A professor at a university in Chungnam has sparked controversy due to absurd sexual expressions mixed in some of the basic questions given to students before lectures.

On the 7th, according to the school and students, Professor A (64), an adjunct professor in the Department of Emergency Medical Services at a university in the Chungnam region, sent 50 basic questions via email to this semester's students before the semester started. The answers to these basic questions were to be revealed during the first week of classes, and the purpose was for students to self-assess their preparation before attending the lectures.

However, students who received the questions were unable to hide their embarrassment. Among the 50 questions given by the professor, 7 included sexual expressions unrelated to the major.

The problematic questions included Where does fertilization occur? ① Uterus ② Fallopian tube ③ Cervix ④ Motel, and Which muscle in your body is the most active? ① Back ② Jaw ③ Eye ④ Muscles used during a honeymoon, among others.

There were also absurd and inappropriate options such as "sexual intercourse morning, noon, and night" in questions asking about the "appropriate size of the male reproductive organ" and to select the top three best physical activities.

One student said, "I tried several times to answer, but I have no idea about the answers or the intent of these questions," and added, "I felt embarrassed and humiliated, so I protested to the school authorities," expressing anger.

Professor A, who has been serving as an adjunct professor at this school since August 2019, is also known to have requested submission of highly personal content such as self-introduction essays about growth process and religious views, as well as student photos, separate from the course content.

As the controversy spread, Professor A told the students via personal messenger, "The source of the basic questions was the BQ test (Brilliance Quotient) from a book that was a 37-week consecutive bestseller on Amazon and sold 2 million copies in the United States," and added, "The intention was to raise awareness of the importance of physiology, but some questions should have been seriously considered beforehand. I apologize to everyone."

However, as criticism did not subside even after the professor's apology, the professor submitted a letter of resignation following the apology.
