[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] The story of a man who injected 6 liters of oil into his arms to build huge muscles like the Hulk has come to light, shocking many.
The New York Post introduced Kirill Tereshin (24), a Russian native who injected oil (Synthol Oil) into his arms and underwent surgery due to side effects, on the 5th (local time).
Synthol is a liquid compound used to treat muscle pain and stomatitis. Originally, it is applied or gargled on the necessary area, but among some bodybuilders, it is known to be injected to quickly increase muscle volume. Long-term use can destroy muscles or cause inflammation and pain.
Kirill injected Synthol multiple times into his biceps and triceps starting in 2017 to build arm muscles in a short period. As a result, a total of 6 liters of oil was injected into his arms, and the circumference of his arms reached 24 inches.
Having achieved the muscular physique he wanted, Kirill proudly showed off his arms on his social networking service (SNS), earning nicknames such as "Popeye" and "Russian Hulk" from netizens.
However, since 2018, he suffered from high fever and experienced pain and difficulty moving his arms, facing serious side effects.
As his symptoms worsened, he decided to undergo removal surgery.
According to foreign media reports on the day, Dr. Dmitry Melnikov, who performed Kirill’s surgery, said, "The muscles were significantly damaged due to Synthol injections," and added, "Kirill successfully completed the oil removal surgery, but it will take considerable time to fully recover normal function."
He also warned, "Trainers often inject Synthol into their bodies, but this can cause tissue fibrosis and necrosis. It is an action that should never be done."
After the surgery, Kirill posted a photo on his SNS and wrote, "I just wanted to have big muscles like the Hulk. I regret my foolish actions in the past," adding, "I am currently just waiting to recover."
