Ilsangbi Ilsangui Teum, March Zero Waste Festival
3-week event... 'Eco-friendly Products' Prize Giveaway Included
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] LG Uplus announced on the 7th that it will hold the "Zero Waste Festival" for about three weeks until the 28th at "Ilsangbi Ilsang-ui Teum," a complex cultural space near Gangnam Station.
The Zero Waste Festival hosted by Ilsangbi Ilsang-ui Teum is a customer experience program prepared to convey the message that customers can easily enjoy sustainable consumption in their daily lives.
Zero waste is a global movement to reduce waste by minimizing packaging or using recyclable materials. Eco-friendliness is also an important element of ESG (Environmental, Social Responsibility, and Governance) management.
The festival features Trashbusters, Almeang Store, artist Kim Ha-neul, as well as existing partners such as the plant interior design company "Macho-ui Sachungi," the cafe "Glass House," and the independent bookstore "Storage Book & Film."
Trashbusters is responsible for lending, collecting, and managing reusable containers at "Glass House," which sells beverages and desserts. Almeang Store operates a recycling collection center. Visitors can directly experience "proper disposal" of items such as plastic bottle caps and shoelaces and are introduced to easy-to-practice sustainable methods in daily life. The collected recyclables are reborn at an upcycling center after the festival ends.
There is also a "Bursting Score" event with customers. By performing environmental improvement activities throughout the festival's various themed areas from basement level 1 to the 6th floor, participants receive plastic chips. Activities to earn chips include ▲not using packaging bags when purchasing books ▲using reusable tableware (Glass House) ▲not using elevators and using stairs ▲purchasing upcycled products (Macho-ui Sachungi) ▲returning recyclables such as eco-bags, plastics, and shoelaces (Almeang Store) ▲participating in quizzes about recycling separation methods, among others.
Prizes are awarded based on the number of collected chips. Customers who return 3 or more chips receive soapnut fruit used as a natural detergent, and those who return 5 or more receive soapnut along with an Almeang toothbrush made through upcycling at Almeang Store. If the total number of collected chips exceeds a certain goal, donations will be made to environmental organizations.
Jang Jun-young, head of CX marketing at LG Uplus, said, "We had many conversations with MZ generation customers visiting Ilsangbi Ilsang-ui Teum about the topic of the environment, and their stories are very important to us as they met the philosophy of Teum and led to the planning of the Zero Waste Festival." He added, "Going forward, Teum will continue to propose extraordinary experiences in ordinary daily life with themes that resonate with the MZ generation."
Meanwhile, Ilsangbi Ilsang-ui Teum published "Magazine Ilsangbi Ilsang-ui Teum," which contains the unique philosophy of Teum, to mark its 6-month anniversary. The magazine covers sustainable living and various cultures. It can be purchased during the March festival at Storage Book & Film on the 3rd floor of Teum, and later through the Teum membership app, Kyobo Bookstore, Yes24, and others.
