Firefighter Booked for Drug Use
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Individuals who were smoking marijuana at home and on the streets were caught by the police. Drug crimes have spread even into the public service sector, with a firefighter being apprehended while wandering the streets after using drugs.
According to the police on the 7th, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul has booked famous rapper Killagram (29, real name Lee Jun-hee) without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and is conducting an investigation.
Lee was caught smoking marijuana at his home around 4 p.m. on the 1st. Police who responded to a resident’s report of a "smell of burning herbs" arrested him on the spot. Initially, Lee denied the charges but admitted to them after powdery marijuana and inhalers were found.
Later, Lee apologized for possessing and smoking marijuana. He posted an apology on his social media (SNS) saying, "I am truly sorry for disappointing those who sincerely loved and supported me, as well as those who did not know me at all," and "I will naturally accept the legal punishment."
In Nowon-gu, three people in their 20s were booked by the police for smoking marijuana in front of a supermarket and provoking passersby.
Police who responded to a report that "strange people suddenly started a quarrel" found the individuals speaking incoherently and conducted drug tests. All three tested positive. One of them reportedly stated during the police investigation, "I kept marijuana picked up at a bar in Itaewon and shared it with friends."
Last month, firefighter A, who works at the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters Fire School, was caught by the police wandering a residential area in Yongsan-gu after using drugs. A reportedly admitted to using drugs three to four times since the end of last year. Consequently, the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters suspended A from duty.
