[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Incheon City announced on the 6th that a total of 28 people, including public officials from Ganghwa-gun, tested positive for COVID-19.
Among them, 2 individuals are confirmed cases linked to a recent small-scale cluster infection in the area. Additionally, one more infected person was identified during cohort isolation at a nursing hospital in Namdong-gu, increasing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 22.
Regarding a trading company in Seo-gu, one person tested positive during a test conducted prior to self-quarantine, bringing the total confirmed cases to 18.
Of the remaining 26 newly confirmed cases announced that day, 23 were contacts of existing confirmed cases.
A public official A from Ganghwa-gun tested positive after contact with a confirmed family member. Upon classifying A as a confirmed case, Ganghwa-gun temporarily closed the government office building that day and plans to conduct COVID-19 tests on about 750 affiliated public officials, including township office employees, by the 7th.
One person who recently entered the country from Kazakhstan also tested positive, and the infection routes of two other confirmed cases remain unknown, with health authorities currently investigating.
As of the afternoon of the previous day, 5 out of 51 beds dedicated to severe patients in Incheon were in use, and 91 out of 782 beds dedicated to infectious diseases were occupied.
Up to the previous day, 18,265 people, including workers at nursing hospitals and medical institutions treating COVID-19 patients in Incheon, have received COVID-19 vaccinations.
As of that day, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Incheon stands at 4,555.
