2021 Korea-Canada R&D Networking Consultation Meeting Held
Co-hosted by Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency and Embassy of Canada in Korea
Introduction of Company Information and Technologies of 13 Canadian and 22 Korean Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) announced that from the 9th to the 11th, it will hold the "Korea-Canada R&D Networking Consultation - Advanced Manufacturing and Smart Factory" at EL Tower in Yangjae, Seoul, and TIPA's Metropolitan Area Smart Work Office.
This event is co-hosted by TIPA and the Embassy of Canada in Korea under the theme "Exploring Joint Research and Development (R&D) and Development Directions in Advanced Manufacturing and Smart Factory between Korea and Canada in Response to the 4th Industrial Revolution Era."
The event is designed as a platform for discussing ways to enhance technological levels and joint R&D fields through mutual exchange of national policies, support systems, and current status of advanced manufacturing and smart factory technologies in Korea and Canada, as well as the latest smart factory technology cases from SMEs in both countries.
In particular, due to difficulties in holding face-to-face events amid COVID-19, the event will comply with quarantine guidelines and operate in a hybrid online-offline format, with live streaming on YouTube. Considering the time difference with Canada, a dedicated online site for non-face-to-face participation will be established and opened for a certain period to support many Canadian SMEs and related organizations to attend.
Lectures by overseas speakers who cannot participate on-site will be pre-recorded and broadcast on the day, and Canadian SMEs presenting will participate in presentations via dual broadcasting using pre-recorded videos or video conferencing platforms.
The event is largely composed of a forum and B2B consultation meetings, providing various discussion platforms such as policy introductions from Korea and Canada, company promotions, and overseas technology exchange consultations between companies.
At the forum held on the 9th, the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada will introduce Canadian policies in the advanced manufacturing and smart factory sector under the theme "Advanced and Smart Manufacturing Sector in Canada." Following this, Park Han-gu, Head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team at TIPA, will introduce trends and policies in Korea's advanced manufacturing and smart factory sector under the theme "Korea's Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Strategy and Status."
Additionally, 13 Canadian companies and 22 Korean SMEs related to advanced manufacturing and smart factory technologies will introduce their company information and possessed technologies to share information for technological cooperation between the two countries.
From the 10th to the 11th, during the two-day Korea-Canada B2B online technology exchange meeting, pre-matched companies from both countries will conduct one-on-one non-face-to-face consultations, sharing research and demonstration cases for smart manufacturing innovation, excellent achievements, and conducting in-depth discussions for technological cooperation such as joint R&D consultations.
Lee Jae-hong, President of TIPA, said, "I hope that this Korea-Canada R&D Networking Consultation will serve as an opportunity to actively share experiences and cases through related technology exchanges and cooperation between Korea and Canada," adding, "I will play an intermediary role to ensure that cooperation among SMEs actively participating in the forum leads to future achievements and that non-face-to-face smart manufacturing innovation meetings between countries are held so that smart manufacturing innovation can move toward a future-oriented direction."
