Creating the Future of the Urban Center with Seoul Citizens... Recruiting the 'Historic Downtown Basic Plan Citizen Participation Group'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will publicly recruit the ‘Historical City Center Basic Plan [Online] Citizen Participation Group’ from the 8th to the 26th, to contemplate the future vision of the ‘Hanyangdoseong Historic City Center’ area, which is becoming increasingly important as the central space of Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, and to jointly seek solutions to local issues.

The Citizen Participation Group will consist of 200 members, who, if selected, will participate in various planning processes from mid-April to August this year, including surveys, voting, direct opinion submissions, and field trip review contests.

Applicants must be residents, workers, or students in Seoul and anyone who is interested in and frequently visits the city center can apply. However, online activity capability is required.

Before the official activities begin, a ‘Participation Group Activity Guide Video’ regarding the operation of the participation group will be shared through online communication channels starting April 1st. For other inquiries related to the participation group’s activities, contact the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Historical City Center Regeneration Division, Urban Policy Team for guidance.

Ryu Hoon, Director of Urban Regeneration, said, “Having experienced the COVID-19 era and the rapid changes in the Hanyangdoseong Historic City Center’s future, I hope that the citizen participation group selected this time will greatly contribute to experts and citizens working together to contemplate and lay the foundation for the continuous development of the city center.”
