Scholarship Donation Relay Continues for Fostering Local Talent

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that Gangjin Wando Livestock Cooperative (Chairman Kim Young-rae) donated 20 million won as a scholarship to the Gangjin Residents Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Lee Seung-ok) on the 26th, warming the community.
Despite the COVID-19 crisis last year, Gangjin Wando Livestock Cooperative generated a profit of 1.97 billion won and ranked first among 139 livestock cooperatives nationwide in the growth rate of mutual finance loans, becoming a competitive cooperative. Since the first scholarship donation in 2008 to foster local talent, it has donated a total of 102 million won over seven times.
Chairman Kim Young-rae said, “Gangjin Wando Livestock Cooperative has grown together with the local community, so we donated part of our profits back to society as scholarships. I hope local students can bravely pursue their dreams and grow together with us.”
Chairman Lee Seung-ok said, “We thank all the members of Gangjin Wando Livestock Cooperative who are actively working for the development of the local community. We will do our best to nurture the spark of students’ dreams and hopes with the donated scholarships so that they can grow into outstanding talents.”
The Gangjin Residents Scholarship Foundation has received 107.4 million won in scholarship funds this year, and a total of 17.227 billion won has been raised so far.
The scholarship foundation is promoting the ‘One Person, One Account (5,000 won) Campaign’ to spread a voluntary donation culture and provide scholarships to more students, and applications can be made through automatic transfer.
