The Citizen Award and Honorary Citizen Award are presented annually on Citizens' Day to individuals who have contributed to the development of Wando-gun and the welfare of its citizens or have gained distinguished recognition, aiming to enhance the prestige of Wando-gun.

The Wando Citizen Award can be nominated in four categories: education and culture/sports, social welfare and environment, industrial economy, and local defense, order, and security.

The Honorary Citizen Award is given to non-residents of Wando-gun (including foreigners) who have contributed to enhancing the external prestige of Wando-gun; those who have contributed to the development of county administration in fields such as culture, arts, education, sports, economy, and science; individuals who have devoted themselves to regional development and social volunteer activities and are recognized for promoting citizen unity; domestic and foreign visitors to the county for purposes such as sisterhood ties and friendship promotion deemed necessary for certificate awarding; and others whom the governor recognizes as needing the Honorary Citizen certificate.

The Citizen Award is given to up to four people, one per category, while there is no limit on the number of Honorary Citizen Awards.

The nomination deadline is until the 29th of this month. The nomination process requires submitting relevant supporting documents to the governor, and nominations can be made by the chairman of the Wando County Council, heads of institutions and organizations, eup/myeon chiefs, or individuals.

Individual nominations require a joint signature recommendation from at least 30 household heads.

The county will form a screening committee and an investigation committee to review the nominees, finalize the recipients by May 20, and present the awards and certificates at the 50th Wando Citizens' Day commemorative event on May 31.
