This agreement is intended for the two education offices to mutually cooperate for the activation of "Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19" and "Jeju 4·3 Peace and Human Rights Education," and to share the intention to jointly promote related projects.
The signing ceremony will be attended by Jeonnam Superintendent of Education Jang Seok-ung, Jeju Superintendent of Education Lee Seok-moon, Bu Gong-nam, chairman of the Education Committee of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council, Oh Seung-ik, chairman of the 4·3 Peace Education Committee, Oh Im-jong, president of the Victims' Bereaved Families Association, among others. After the ceremony, they will visit the sites related to the Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19 incident.
They also plan to provide necessary administrative and financial support so that commemorative events, special lessons, and experiential learning related to Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19 and Jeju 4·3 peace and human rights education can be actively conducted, and to actively operate related educational programs.
In particular, they decided to jointly promote the operation of theme-based peace and human rights education programs during teacher training and student experiential learning such as school trips.
Superintendent Jang Seok-ung stated, "I deeply appreciate the revision of the Jeju 4·3 Special Act, and through solidarity and cooperation with Jeju 4·3, which was the origin of the Yeosu-Suncheon 10·19 incident, I will support Jeonnam students to grow into democratic citizens with sensitivity to peace and human rights."
