Secured 1.6 Billion KRW Including 900 Million KRW for Central and Provincial Job Creation Project Funds
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Cheon-seok] Boseong County announced on the 5th that it will create 120 customized jobs spanning from the MZ generation to the middle-aged.
Boseong County secured an additional budget of 1.6 billion KRW for new job policies, including 900 million KRW in project funds from major job-related public contests such as the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Jeollanam-do.
Through this, by early March, a total of 84 new jobs will be created in three areas: △Middle-aged Social Contribution Support Project (Ministry of Employment and Labor), △Jeonnam Population, New Hope Finding Project (Jeollanam-do), and △Jeonnam Companion Job Project (Jeollanam-do), along with plans to provide youth startup support and education.
Additionally, through the △Blue Job Youth Employment Project (Jeollanam-do) and △Local COVID-19 Prevention Job Project (Ministry of the Interior and Safety), 36 new jobs will be prepared.
The ‘Middle-aged Social Contribution Support Project (Career-type Jobs)’ provides opportunities for the 50s and 70s middle-aged group to participate in jobs and social contribution activities by utilizing their pre-retirement experience and qualifications. This year, they will demonstrate their abilities in fields such as forest resource development, traditional natural food revitalization, and management of nationally important agricultural heritage.
The ‘Jeonnam Population, New Hope Finding Project’ is a project that creates a youth mall within the local market of Nokcha-gol Boseong, providing startup opportunities for youth and contributing to the revitalization of the traditional market through fostering young merchants.
The youth mall will remodel the (former) specialty product sales area within the traditional market to create 10 startup spaces specialized for youth and a youth job center. Participants will be recruited in the first half of the year, with the opening scheduled for the second half.
The ‘Jeonnam Companion Job Project’ supports startup counseling and education related to traditional natural dyeing products for youth interested in this field.
Along with this, Boseong County secured 620 million KRW this year for the Jeonnam-type New Deal jobs, the Blue Economy Youth Job budget, to support employment, education, and wages for 20 people across 11 companies.
Also, to ensure the safety of residents and conduct quarantine during the COVID-19 situation, 16 local COVID-19 prevention job positions are being selected and operated.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong County, said, “I hope this will be an opportunity to improve the quality of life for residents and revitalize the local economy through job creation and support, which is a national task amid the COVID-19 situation.” He added, “We will steadily expand quality jobs to create job conditions that satisfy residents, companies, youth, and middle-aged people alike.”
Meanwhile, according to the regional employment survey by Statistics Korea in the second half of last year, Boseong County’s employment rate in the second half of last year was 72.2%, up 2.9% compared to the second half of 2019, maintaining the highest level in Jeollanam-do for two consecutive half-year periods in terms of employment growth rate.
