[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and other Democratic Party leaders strongly criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's resignation on the 5th, calling it "an unexpected act" and "delusional."

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Lee criticized, "It is an unexpected act that is not common sense for a public official." He raised his voice, saying, "Yoon's entry into politics is being accepted as a fait accompli. During his tenure as Prosecutor General, he caused fierce controversy over the political neutrality of the prosecution due to selective investigations and prosecution, and he resigned in the same manner. The impact he had on the prosecution will be evaluated coldly."

Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader, said, "Former Prosecutor General Yoon will be recorded as the worst Prosecutor General in the history of the prosecution who was intoxicated with power and used the position of Prosecutor General," and added, "His claims that distort prosecution reform are at a delusional level."

Kim also pointed out, "His actions, filled with prejudice and resistance to prosecution reform, showed the typical political prosecutor until the end," and "His sudden announcement of resignation can only be read as a pre-planned move to enter politics." He emphasized that "The outcome of Yoon Seok-yeol's ambition-driven politics, which is immersed in prejudice, irresponsibility, and narcissism, is obvious," and the Democratic Party will continue to push forward with prosecution reform without change.

Choi In-ho, chief spokesperson, met with reporters after the Supreme Council meeting and said, "Now that Yoon has become a politician, there is no need to respond to every word and action of his," continuing criticism toward the People Power Party, which supports Yoon.

Choi emphasized, "As soon as Yoon resigned, the People Power Party sent out all-around love calls as if they had been waiting, without a single word of concern for the leaderless prosecution," and "Many citizens are disappointed by the irresponsible and strategic attitude of the main opposition party, which only criticizes the government."

He added, "There was not even the minimum consideration for a prospective presidential candidate from their own party," and "There was no minimum dignity or composure."
