Hwasun-gun Selected for 'Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project' Led by Balanced Development Committee

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 5th that Bokrim Village in Dong-myeon was selected in the urban ‘Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project’ contest hosted by the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development (hereinafter referred to as the Balanced Committee).

The Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project is a four-year initiative aimed at ensuring the basic living standards of residents in vulnerable areas by supporting the expansion of living infrastructure such as ▲ slate roof renovation ▲ old house maintenance ▲ fence and retaining wall repair ▲ village road expansion ▲ and traditional toilet maintenance.

It also supports human care programs for community revitalization, including elderly care and health management programs, as well as capacity-building projects.

Bokrim Village, which had been a marginalized area due to its distance from the town and township centers, is expected to greatly contribute not only to village development but also to improving residents’ quality of life through this project.

A total of 96 locations nationwide (80 rural, 16 urban) were selected for the contest, and among 22 places in the Jeonnam region, only one village in Hwasun-gun was finally selected.

A county official said, “We deeply appreciate the active will and efforts of the local residents,” and added, “We will continue to discover villages that have not yet had opportunities and strive to ensure that villages in need of improved living conditions in vulnerable areas receive benefits.”
