[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Roh Woong-rae, a Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the Blue House for accepting Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's resignation within an hour, saying, "President Moon Jae-in may have had a humanly complex feeling of love and hate," and called Yoon "an ungrateful and shameless person."
In an interview with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the 5th, Roh said, "President Moon appointed someone who had long been sidelined to a minor post as Prosecutor General despite all opposition," and added, "Seeing him stab the back of his benefactor and resign yesterday, what kind of feelings do you think the president must have felt?"
He referred to Prosecutor General Yoon as "shameless," and in response to the question that "Democratic Party supporters welcomed Yoon becoming the Prosecutor General under the Moon Jae-in administration," he said, "In the end, he went against the government and ruling party that were pushing for prosecutorial reform," and added, "It seems he is dreaming of a presidential campaign backed fully by the Taegeukgi Unit."
He also voiced that the timing of Yoon's resignation was a deliberate political move. Roh said, "Isn't it timed to coincide with the selection of the People Power Party's mayoral candidate?" and added, "Since the People Power Party candidate has been selected, attention will be focused, and he intends to gather strength and ride the wave at that time."
Regarding Yoon's opposition to the establishment of the Serious Crime Investigation Office, he added, "Investigation and prosecution powers should be separated. In principle, he agreed to this," and said, "It is difficult to understand."
