Seongbuk-gu Youth Startup Support Rental Housing 'Dojeonsuk' 64 Units Supplied Exterior view of Dojeonsuk No. 13 scheduled for new supply in the first half of this year

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) will supply 64 units of ‘Dojeonsuk’ in the first half of 2021.

‘Dojeonsuk’ is a mixed-use rental housing that provides both office and accommodation at once, targeting one-person creative entrepreneurs (including prospective startups).

Since the first branch was supplied in 2014, it has currently expanded to 13 buildings, and plans to supply a total of 15 buildings and 214 rooms by the second half of 2021.

In particular, for the recruitment of tenants for the 13th building (24 Dongsomun-ro 25ga-gil), which is about to be newly supplied, preference points will be given to female (prospective) entrepreneurs to support women in the region who have experienced career breaks, housewives who want to take on new challenges, and women struggling with employment difficulties, in order to foster female enterprises and female (prospective) entrepreneurs in the area.

Any woman, including female enterprises and female prospective entrepreneurs, can receive preference points.

Also, for vacant units, the income criteria for rental housing have been somewhat relaxed according to the revised guidelines for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s purchase rental housing for existing houses.

Dojeonsuk resident companies receive not only hardware support such as office space but also software support including startup mentoring, incubating, and community provision for collaboration, which has been well received.

A district official stated, “Due to the impact of COVID-19, it is difficult for small and medium-sized enterprises, especially small businesses and startups, to survive, and we hope that the supply of Dojeonsuk will help companies save existing costs and serve as a stepping stone to move forward. In particular, preference points will be given to female (prospective) entrepreneurs only for the newly supplied units, and we will make various efforts to foster marginalized female (prospective) entrepreneurs and support youth employment and startups.”
