Unveiling of Guide Signs in Wirye-dong, Songpa-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will hold the 'Wirye-dong Guide Sign Unveiling Ceremony' at 4 p.m. on the 5th in front of the intersection of Wiryesero and Wiryejungang-ro at the Wirye 24 Complex intersection.

Wirye-dong in Songpa-gu, an administrative district newly established in 2015, is a representative residential area where about 31,000 people, accounting for 4.7% of the district's population, currently reside due to repeated urban infrastructure development and active population inflow.

However, as a new town created through the Wirye Land Development Project, it borders the three regions of Songpa, Hanam, and Seongnam, making it a region with the challenge of seeking mutual growth based on cooperation among local governments.

Accordingly, Songpa-gu produced and installed guide signs at the entrance of the administrative district to establish the identity of the entire Wirye-dong area and to wish for dynamic development.

The guide signs, composed of four steel sculptures of pillar type with heights ranging from 4.4 to 6 meters and widths from 0.4 to 0.8 meters, embody the urban characteristics of Wirye where the flow of history, culture, and art converge.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, only a minimal number of attendees, including Songpa-gu Mayor Park Seong-su, local members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and heads of residents' autonomy committees, will participate in the unveiling ceremony.

After reporting the progress on the production and installation of the 'Wirye-dong Guide Signs,' which reflected residents' opinions and underwent review by the Public Art Committee, a commemorative speech and the unveiling ceremony will follow.

Songpa-gu Mayor Park Seong-su stated, "I am pleased to announce that with the installation of the guide signs, the three local governments of Songpa, Hanam, and Seongnam, sharing the same living area, will achieve development together based on coexistence and cooperation," adding, "We will do our best to resolve local issues such as the move-in of apartments in North Wirye, the creation of waterfront parks, and the opening of the Wirye Sinsa Line and tram."
