[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education held the '2021 1st Regular Council Meeting' of the Integrity Citizen Auditors on the 4th at the joint lecture room on the 5th floor of the Jeonnam Education Research and Information Center.

On this day, the council meeting was held to share last year's activity status and establish the annual activity plan for this year, with about 30 Integrity Citizen Auditors of the Provincial Office of Education in attendance.

Despite difficulties in activities due to COVID-19 last year, the Integrity Citizen Auditors actively participated in comprehensive audits, facility mobile audits, and the Integrity Evaluation Improvement TF activities.

In particular, by forming the Integrity Evaluation Improvement TF together with the Integrity Citizen Auditors and implementing improvement measures in six areas of integrity, it was evaluated that they played a pivotal role in raising the external integrity evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission from grade 3 to grade 2 last year.

Launched in 2019, the Integrity Citizen Auditors is a preventive corruption control system responsible for auditing and investigating corruption-prone areas in public institutions.

They conduct inspection activities to prevent corruption in the overall operation of educational administration, including academic management, accounting processing, and facility construction, targeting educational institutions such as education support offices, affiliated organizations, and schools. They also continue to participate in various anti-corruption and integrity activities in the educational field and demand improvements in educational policies and systems.

Especially this year, by strengthening the function of the anti-corruption integrity practice command post led by the residents, it is expected that inspection and monitoring of corruption-prone areas will become more active.

Auditor Kim Sung-in stated, “Integrity is the pride and competitiveness of our Jeonnam education,” and added, “This year as well, with the bone-cutting efforts of all Jeonnam education family members and the power of external experts such as citizen auditors, we expect the integrity level to greatly improve.”
