[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] On the 4th, the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee held a confirmation hearing for Park Sun-young, a nominee for the Central Election Commission, and adopted the hearing report.

The People Power Party boycotted the hearing, raising issues with Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo recommending Park as a candidate.

Han Byung-do, the ruling party secretary of the Public Administration and Security Committee, stated, "Chief Justice Kim made the recommendation of the election commissioner in accordance with the Constitution," adding, "Not making the recommendation would be a dereliction of duty."

During the hearing, Park addressed allegations that she wrote a 'down contract' when purchasing the Sampung Apartment in Seocho-gu, Seoul, in 1999, saying, "I regret not thoroughly checking. I apologize."
