30s Motorcycle Rider Arrested for Throwing Brick at Car After Honking Horn

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] A motorcyclist suspected of throwing a brick at the rear window of a passenger car and fleeing was caught within a day of the incident. It is reported that children were also in the passenger car at the time of the accident.

The Suseo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 4th that they have apprehended and are investigating Mr. A, in his late 30s, on charges including special property damage.

Mr. A is accused of riding a motorcycle on a two-lane road near Hanti Station intersection in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, at 7:17 p.m. on the 3rd, throwing a brick at the rear window of a passenger car ahead, breaking it, and fleeing the scene. It is reported that the driver and children in the passenger car did not sustain any significant injuries.

After receiving a report from the passenger car driver, the police analyzed CCTV footage around the scene and tracked the suspect, arresting Mr. A at a location in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at 11:23 a.m. on the 4th.

The passenger car driver posted on an online community on the day of the accident, saying, "While waiting at a traffic light, I heard a 'thud' sound and at first thought someone had hit us, but the rear window was broken," and added, "The children in the back seat were startled, crying, and in a state of shock."

The driver claimed that just before the incident, "While making a right turn, a motorcycle aggressively cut in front of me, and I honked once," and that the motorcyclist then picked up a brick from a nearby construction site, chased after the car, and threw it.

A police official stated, "Mr. A denies the charges," and added, "A second investigation is planned."
