Honam University Completes Education Program for 'AI Autonomous Driving Platform Lab'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Honam University’s Department of Future Automotive Engineering successfully concluded the ‘AI Autonomous Driving Platform Winter Project Lab’ education program, designed to cultivate talent tailored to industry demands.

According to Honam University on the 4th, about 20 second- and third-year students from the Department of Future Automotive Engineering participated in this non-face-to-face education, where they learned Python, operating systems, and how to use the OpenCV library necessary for developing AI autonomous driving software.

In addition, the program included practical training on lane recognition and 3D map generation using model autonomous vehicles, as well as actual testing time on the university’s Imagination Workshop autonomous driving track.

Kim Jun-seo (third-year student, Department of Future Automotive Engineering), who participated in the education, said, “It was rewarding to learn practical training in autonomous driving software development, which is currently receiving much attention in the automotive field,” and added, “I want to focus more on my studies during the rest of my school life and get a job in this field.”

Jung Young-gi, Dean of the AI Convergence College at Honam University, said, “We will continue to strengthen students’ employment capabilities through industry-demand tailored education and create a system that supplies excellent talent to relevant companies.”

Meanwhile, the ‘AI Autonomous Driving Platform Winter Project Lab’ education was conducted over four weeks from January 25 to February 26.
