[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chonnam National University announced on the 4th that it has been selected as a specialized university for intellectual property (IP) talent development in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
Chonnam National University's Gwangju-Jeonnam IP Talent Development Center, selected for the first phase of the "Specialized University for Intellectual Property Talent Development Project" led by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, will receive approximately 6.5 billion KRW in project funding over the next five years.
The Chonnam National University IP Talent Development Center will establish related interdisciplinary majors and graduate programs to cultivate specialized intellectual property professionals in various convergent fields such as engineering, business administration, law, and humanities.
Additionally, in connection with the Gwangju-Jeonnam regional innovation platform, the center will undertake initiatives including ▲opening related interdisciplinary courses ▲providing specialized education and scholarships for high school, university, graduate students, and working professionals ▲supporting IP-based startups and patent assistance for local companies.
Jo Seong-yong, head of the Chonnam National University IP Talent Development Center, stated, “Centered on Chonnam National University as the specialized university, we aim to establish a future-oriented education system in the related fields by providing high-quality shared education programs to 15 universities participating in the Gwangju-Jeonnam platform.”
