2021 New Renewable Energy Local Support Project... 5 Final Sites Selected in Gangdong-gu... Largest Among 25 Districts in Seoul... 116kW Public Solar Power Facility Newly Established
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has been finally selected for the '2021 Renewable Energy Regional Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, securing approximately 100 million KRW in national funding.
The Renewable Energy Regional Support Project aims to install renewable energy facilities suited to regional characteristics on buildings and facilities owned by local governments, strengthening the energy supply system of local governments and promoting regional economic development. National funding supports 45% of the total project cost.
The target facilities include ▲Gangdong Art Center 100kW ▲Pamix Center 5kW ▲Seowon Village Community Center 5kW ▲Amsa 1-dong No.1 Senior Citizens' Center 3kW ▲Giriul Senior Citizens' Center 3kW, installing photovoltaic power generation facilities with a total capacity of 116kW at five locations.
With the expansion of these public photovoltaic power generation facilities, it is expected to achieve ▲annual energy production of 147,429 kWh ▲annual greenhouse gas reduction of 67,729 kg CO2 ▲the effect equivalent to planting 7,443 30-year-old pine trees.
The district plans to start detailed design in March and sequentially proceed with design and construction, completing the installation of photovoltaic power generation facilities by September.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “We will take the lead in expanding the distribution of renewable energy starting from the public sector and do our best to respond to climate change and preserve a sustainable environment.”
