Seoul City Opens 'Moduin' Integrated Support Platform for 'Urban Regeneration Coordinator Jobs'

Operation of Integrated Human Resource System to Solve Job Issues for Urban Regeneration Coordinators
Strengthened as a Comprehensive Urban Regeneration Platform, Doubling Coordinator Training Capacity This Year

Seoul City Opens 'Moduin' Integrated Support Platform for 'Urban Regeneration Coordinator Jobs'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 4th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will operate the job platform 'Seoul Urban Regeneration Moduin' to help urban regeneration coordinators working at urban regeneration project sites find jobs and continue their activities.

Seoul Urban Regeneration Moduin is an integrated online human resource support system for urban regeneration that covers everything from training urban regeneration coordinators, managing their qualifications, job matching, to capacity building after employment. The training and job education records completed by urban regeneration coordinators are accumulated and can be checked electronically, and certificates of completion can also be issued. Job information related to urban regeneration from Seoul and nationwide can be viewed at a glance, and users can upload their resumes immediately to apply for jobs. It is also possible to apply for job training to enhance capabilities after employment.

Until now, the continuous connection of jobs has been a major concern for coordinators and educational institutions. Urban regeneration coordinators have found it difficult to access employment information or news, and urban regeneration sites nationwide have struggled to find skilled personnel. Additionally, even if urban regeneration coordinators complete various trainings and gain field experience, their records were not stored electronically, making it difficult to prove their careers.

Seoul Urban Regeneration Moduin is available to currently active urban regeneration coordinators (about 200 people), prospective coordinators who have completed training, and general education graduates (about 200 people). The city plans to promote the platform and encourage membership registration.

Before the official opening, Seoul conducted a two-month pilot operation period. During this time, job matching cases emerged. Through Seoul Urban Regeneration Moduin, four people (three graduates of the coordinator training course and one current coordinator) found jobs and are working at urban regeneration field support centers.

Going forward, Seoul plans to expand Seoul Urban Regeneration Moduin into a comprehensive platform for people and education that fosters capabilities for urban regeneration growth. It will share online educational content, expand the scope of membership, and add functions for matching expert resources with field centers.

Meanwhile, with the opening of Moduin, Seoul has created an environment to provide integrated support for urban regeneration human resources and will double the customized educational courses for each target group to accelerate coordinator training. Training will be expanded to twice a year (previously once a year), nurturing 60 prospective coordinators annually (previously about 30). Job training hours will increase to 60 hours (previously around 30 hours).

The city will also expand projects supporting the growth of field coordinators. Through cooperation with Korea University, it has launched the 'Korea University Urban Regeneration Cooperative Program (Master's) Scholarship Recommendation Project' to support field coordinators in balancing work and study. Currently, five field coordinators recommended by Seoul are participating in Korea University graduate master's programs.

Ryu Hoon, Director of the Seoul Urban Regeneration Office, said, “From local residents to coordinators supporting urban regeneration, the main actors of 'urban regeneration' are people,” adding, “We will continue to support coordinators who are interested in urban regeneration and want to develop their capabilities.”
