Geochang-gun Selected for Project to Strengthen Public Service Linkage in Residents' Daily Life Settings

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 3rd that it has been selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Project to Strengthen the Linkage of Public Services in Residents' Living Areas' and secured a project budget of 100 million won.

This project is promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to support linkage and cooperation between demand-centered public services to solve regional problems.

The county was selected for two projects: one in which the Residents' Autonomy Committee establishes a village development plan through a residents' general meeting after a residents' deliberation process, and another to establish a project execution corporation for discovering and linking private consignment projects centered on the Residents' Autonomy Committee.

Gu In-mo, the head of Geochang-gun, said, "Through the Project to Strengthen the Linkage of Public Services in Residents' Living Areas, we will achieve genuine resident autonomy that residents can feel," and added, "We will continue to actively secure resources and promote various projects to improve residents' welfare and advance the era of happiness for the county residents."

The county converted all 11 myeon (townships) into Residents' Autonomy Committees in January and is recognized as the local government most actively promoting Residents' Autonomy Committees.

The county has laid the foundation for revitalizing residents' autonomy by securing project funds through selection in various public contests such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's visiting residents' autonomy consulting local government selection, Gyeongsangnam-do's excellent leading projects for Residents' Autonomy Committees, COVID-19 overcoming projects, and residents' participatory budget projects.
