Received 400 Million KRW from Korea Sports Council Fund Over 5 Years, Establishing Foundation for Professional (Recreational) Sports
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 3rd that it was finally selected for the "School-Linked (One Sport) Sports Club" public contest hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Sports Council.
The school-linked public sports club project establishes and operates an independent non-profit sports club that allows multi-generational and multi-layered members to learn and enjoy sports at an affordable cost by utilizing schools or public sports facilities.
The selected public sports club this time is for the soccer category, and from this year until 2025, a total project budget of 550 million KRW will be provided, consisting of 400 million KRW from the Korea Sports Council fund and 150 million KRW from the county budget, supporting operating expenses such as salaries for the secretary-general, full-time coaches, assistant coaches, training costs, equipment purchase costs, and publicity expenses.
In Goheung-gun, Goheung FC soccer club is active as a school sports club at Daeseo Middle School, and with the selection in this public contest project, it will be possible to use professional and high-quality programs at an affordable cost by utilizing local public sports facilities.
A county official said, "Through this sports club public contest project, we have laid the foundation for attracting out-of-county student population and revitalizing local professional and recreational sports," adding, "We expect that opportunities for sports participation will be further expanded for local residents, including rural youth in the county."
