Jang Seok-woong, Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, Urges to "Break Away from Familiarity and Take on New Challenges" Jang Seok-ung, Superintendent of Education of Jeonnam

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Seok-woong, Superintendent of Education of Jeonnam, demanded to "strengthen local autonomy capabilities for decentralization and challenge new and unfamiliar things to overcome complacency."

Superintendent Jang said at the monthly meeting on the 3rd, "This year marks the 30th anniversary of the enforcement of the 'Local Education Autonomy Act,' and many tasks that were previously dependent on the Ministry of Education have been transferred to local governments, making it the responsibility of the Provincial Office of Education."

He continued, "Now, we must develop our autonomy capabilities in preparation for decentralization and request and formulate policies based on the situation and conditions of Jeonnam," adding, "For this, the creative ideas and capabilities of the main office staff are required."

Quoting Nietzsche's phrase, "Have goodwill toward the unfamiliar and favor toward the new," Superintendent Jang emphasized, "We must break free from the complacency and laziness that familiarity brings."

He added, "Our lives are filled with the familiar, and the unfamiliar is uncomfortable, frightening, and even met with hostility. Human history has always progressed by confronting the unfamiliar. Repeating only the familiar will never lead to development," he predicted.

Furthermore, he stated, "Organizations and humans challenge the unfamiliar," and pointed out that the Provincial Office of Education's initiatives such as ▲Integrated Operation Vocational High Schools ▲Rural Study Abroad Programs ▲Green Smart Future Schools ▲Closed School Utilization Space Shelter Projects ▲Joint Announcement of Cooperation Vision for Future Talent Development with Jeonnam Province ▲Operation of Citizen Audit Groups ▲Joint Projects on the Yeosu-Suncheon Incident and Jeju April 3 Incident are exactly unfamiliar and new.

Superintendent Jang said, "This year, the main office members are creatively planning and promoting beyond inertia, customs, and manuals," and expressed, "I look forward to the staff's uninhibited imagination and passion."
