Pfizer Vaccine Administration Begins for Frontline Medical Staff in Honam Region

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations have begun in the Honam region.


According to the Gwangju Metropolitan City quarantine authorities on the 3rd, Pfizer vaccinations started at 9 a.m. targeting frontline medical staff and workers in the COVID-19 response.


The target group includes 4,732 medical staff and workers at infectious disease specialized hospitals, severe patient treatment bed hospitals, and residential treatment centers (Gwangju 1,040; Jeonnam 778; Jeonbuk 1,105; Jeju 1,809).


The vaccinations are being conducted at Chosun University Hospital, the Honam regional vaccination center, with in-person vaccinations scheduled until the 9th, and from the 10th to the 20th, vaccines will be delivered to infectious disease specialized hospitals for on-site vaccinations.


The vaccinations are by appointment, and on this day, 108 people are scheduled to be vaccinated: 17 in Gwangju, 68 in Jeonnam, and 24 in Jeonbuk.


Meanwhile, AstraZeneca vaccinations, which began on the 26th of last month, have been completed by 6,953 out of 11,997 eligible recipients, showing a vaccination rate of 57.8% so far.


There have been five reported adverse reactions such as fever and localized allergic responses, all of which are currently reported to have improved.
