Kwon Jun-hak, President of NongHyup Bank, Reviews Status of Overseas Branches Including Myanmar via Video Conference


[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] NH Nonghyup Bank announced on the 3rd that President Kwon Junhak held a video conference on the 2nd to listen to the local situation of overseas branches including Myanmar and to encourage employees.


In particular, they first confirmed the local situation from the Myanmar local corporation and Yangon office following the recent coup d'?tat, and reviewed response measures for the emergency situation. They also checked on the safety of employees working under unstable security conditions and urged that employee safety be prioritized.

Overseas Branch Heads from 7 Countries Attend, Report on This Year's Performance

The video conference was attended by heads of overseas branches from seven countries including the United States, China, and Vietnam, who reported on the 2020 performance and presented various opinions for business promotion in 2021.


President Kwon Junhak said, “With environmental changes caused by COVID-19 and the trend of digital transformation, many changes are expected in the future global business environment.” He added, “The role of each overseas staff member is more important than anything else, and I hope they will do their best with pride as the face representing Nonghyup Bank.”


Currently, Nonghyup Bank operates nine overseas networks (with about 740 employees) in seven countries including the United States, China, and Vietnam. In particular, in Myanmar, they operate two networks: the MFI corporation (established in 2016) and the Yangon office (established in 2020).


Nonghyup Bank plans to continuously strengthen its business in Southeast Asia and expand its entry into advanced financial markets such as Australia and the United Kingdom, aiming to secure more than 14 sales channels in 12 countries worldwide by 2025.
