[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City has extended the guidance period for enforcement of bus-only lane violations using the bus-mounted mobile enforcement system until the end of this month and will begin full enforcement starting April 1.
The city originally planned to enforce from the 2nd of this month after a guidance period from January to February this year. However, to minimize citizen inconvenience and encourage understanding and active participation through sufficient promotion and guidance of the newly introduced bus-mounted mobile enforcement system, the guidance period has been extended.
Currently, the bus-mounted mobile enforcement system is installed on a total of six buses, two each on routes 15, 30, and 45, equipped with enforcement cameras.
The bus-mounted mobile enforcement system can simultaneously enforce violations of bus-only lanes and illegal parking/stopping, with enforcement times and targets remaining the same as before.
Vehicles entering bus-only lanes between 7 AM and 9 AM and between 5 PM and 8 PM are subject to enforcement, while illegal parking/stopping is enforced from 7 AM to 9 PM. However, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays are excluded.
The city introduced the bus-mounted mobile enforcement system last year as a resident-participation budget project to alleviate traffic congestion caused by illegal parking/stopping around bus stops during commuting hours, ensure bus punctuality, and promote passenger safety.
An official from Incheon City stated, "The introduction of the bus-mounted mobile enforcement system is a policy for revitalizing public transportation and ensuring citizen safety, so we ask for citizens' active participation and understanding."
