Sale of Spanish Mackerel and Tuna at Year-Round Lowest Prices from 4th to 10th

According to Lotte Mart on the 3rd, "Samchi-Tuna Day" was jointly designated by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Deep-Sea Fisheries Association to promote the consumption of tuna and Spanish mackerel, named after the pronunciation of March 7, and this year marks the 16th anniversary.

Large retailers and other distribution companies have been holding discount events for tuna and Spanish mackerel on this day.

They are selling "Tuna Belly & Assorted Sashimi (400g)," consisting of northern bluefin tuna and bigeye tuna belly, and popular sashimi such as flatfish and salmon, at about 25% cheaper than the market price for 29,800 won.

Bluefin tuna is divided into northern bluefin tuna, which inhabits the Northern Hemisphere, and southern bluefin tuna, mainly caught in tropical waters and the Southern Hemisphere, with northern bluefin tuna preferred for its higher marbling.

In particular, the product prepared this time consists only of the tuna "belly," the highest-grade part of tuna with the richest fat content.

Also, Spanish mackerel, suitable for both grilling and braising, is offered at about 40% cheaper than the market price.

Only sizes around 750g per fish, the most preferred by customers, were selected. Through approximately 40 tons of pre-stocked inventory, the lowest prices of the year are realized, selling "Grilling and Braising Spanish Mackerel (thawed, domestic)" at 3,700 won each.
