Revitalizing Local Economies through Expanded Rural Card Data Analysis and Local Currency Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] NH Nonghyup Card announced on the 3rd that it will expand social contribution activities and eco-friendly green finance projects in line with Nonghyup Financial Group's 'Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Transformation 2025' vision.
NH Nonghyup Card has continuously operated a public interest fund supporting the development of agriculture and rural areas as well as disadvantaged groups, and has provided early payment services to support small businesses and small franchisees. To reduce carbon emissions, it also launched the 'Olbareun Oil & Pass Card,' which offers a 7% discount when using eco-friendly transportation such as electric vehicle charging, public transportation, and shared mobility.
Recently, to promote a virtuous cycle of ESG management, NH Nonghyup Card released the first and second episodes of the "Hyung-ah Watsseum" promotional content featuring comedian Yang Se-hyung on YouTube. The videos introduce companies such as 119 Leo, which upcycles discarded firefighter suits, and Paperpop, which transforms eco-friendly paper into furniture, gaining positive responses from the MZ generation. Both videos have achieved approximately 630,000 cumulative views in less than a month since their release.
This year, NH Nonghyup Card is pursuing plans to revitalize the local economy through regional coexistence by integrating ESG management strategies with Nonghyup's unique public interest role. This includes ▲strengthening social contribution activities by expanding products eligible for the public interest fund ▲developing specialized services for elderly and rural customers ▲expanding participation in local currency projects and supporting local government data analysis to foster a socially sustainable environment for both urban and rural areas.
Additionally, to reduce paper and mail volume, the company is expanding the transition to mobile postal statements and is also developing specialized products using eco-friendly services and card plate materials.
President Shin In-sik stated, "ESG management is a new management paradigm that enhances competitiveness through coexistence with customers and society and sustainable development," adding, "We will prepare measures aligned with agricultural and rural revitalization and the Green New Deal projects to fulfill Nonghyup's public interest role."
