[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Mart announced on the 2nd that it will sell Spanish mackerel and tuna at the lowest prices of the year from the 4th to the 10th in celebration of 'Spanish Mackerel & Tuna Day.'
Spanish Mackerel & Tuna Day was jointly designated by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Deep-Sea Fisheries Association to promote the consumption of tuna and Spanish mackerel, named after the pronunciation of March 7th, and this year marks its 16th anniversary. Large retailers and distribution companies have been holding discount events for tuna and Spanish mackerel on this day.
They will sell 'Tuna Belly & Assorted Sashimi (400g),' consisting of northern bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna belly, popular sashimi such as flatfish and salmon, at about 25% cheaper than market prices. Spanish mackerel, good for grilling or braising, will be offered at about 40% lower than market prices.
A Lotte Mart official said, "Tuna sashimi sales increased by about 24% in 2020 compared to the previous year," adding, "We will strive to provide high-quality tuna sashimi at reasonable prices."
