Connection outage for about 20 minutes from 8:52 AM
Self-diagnosis app errors occur in some schools
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Confusion arose as access failures to the e-Hakseupteo platform occurred from the first day of school. The self-diagnosis app also did not function properly.
According to the Ministry of Education on the 2nd, access failures to e-Hakseupteo's video classes began at 8:52 a.m. The Ministry expanded the servers and normal operations resumed from 9:15 a.m.
On this day, the EBS Online Class and e-Hakseupteo services, which added features such as real-time video classes and attendance confirmation, started in line with the new semester. The traffic scale was also expanded from 50,000 to 3 million users per day. As of 10 a.m., the cumulative number of users reached approximately 600,000.
The Ministry of Education explained, "Other than this, it has been confirmed that no major failures occurred in the public learning management system or video class services," and added, "We have established a hotline with metropolitan and provincial offices of education, EBS, and the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) to monitor the operation status of the public learning management system in real time and respond immediately to service failures through an emergency response situation room."
On this day, some schools also experienced issues where the 'Student Health Status Self-Diagnosis App' did not operate. Although the government required checking health status by confirming symptoms such as fever or cough before attending school, the app did not function smoothly. Despite being part of quarantine management, there are criticisms that management of the self-diagnosis service before the start of school was neglected.
According to the Ministry of Education, 5.47 million students are registered in the self-diagnosis app, and as of 10 a.m. on this day, it was identified that 74% of them participated in the self-diagnosis.
