Full Mobilization of Administrative Power: 97.7% Payments Completed, Driving Livelihood Stability and Regional Economic Revitalization
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The second round of the Hamyang-type emergency disaster basic income support, targeting all residents of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, has exceeded 97%, driving livelihood stabilization and revitalization of the local economy.
According to the county, to alleviate the difficulties faced by residents due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the Hamyang-type second emergency disaster basic income support was provided starting from the 2nd of last month, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The county urgently allocated about 3.9 billion won from the reserve fund to support the emergency disaster basic income, providing each resident with 100,000 won worth of local currency, the Hamyang Sarang gift certificate.
This emergency disaster basic income follows the first support provided last September before Chuseok and has greatly contributed to revitalizing the local economy by continuously promoting the use of gift certificates throughout February to boost the economy of local small business owners struggling with sluggish consumption.
To ensure rapid support ahead of the Lunar New Year, the county mobilized all administrative resources and provided emergency support through the town and township offices, completing payments to 37,158 residents, or 96%, by February 10.
Furthermore, to ensure no residents were left unsupported, the support period was extended until February 28, and direct contact was made with each household to provide guidance, making every effort to prevent any residents from being excluded.
The Hamyang-type second emergency disaster basic income support, which benefits all residents, has been completed with a final payment rate of 97.7%, benefiting 38,126 residents.
Seo Chun-soo, the mayor of Hamyang-gun, stated, “I hope the disaster basic income will help overcome the economic chill caused by COVID-19, whose end is uncertain, and welcome a warm spring. We will continue to focus on revitalizing the local economy and identifying welfare blind spots amid the prolonged COVID-19 situation.”
