[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Gwangju Bank announced that it will implement the "10 AM Work Start System for Childcare" for two months from the 2nd to April 30th to support childcare during the elementary school enrollment period.
The "10 AM Work Start System for Childcare" was introduced in September 2017 by President Song Jong-wook, who emphasized a "bank where employees are happy," aiming to foster a culture of mutual consideration. This year marks its fourth year.
Following the unprecedented academic schedule last year due to the spread of COVID-19, which delayed the start of elementary, middle, and high schools until May and replaced classes with remote learning, this year it is expected that even with remote classes in place, priority in-person attendance will be given to kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders in elementary school, 3rd-year high school students, and students attending special schools.
Accordingly, Gwangju Bank is implementing the "10 AM Work Start System for Childcare" to minimize childcare gaps during the elementary school enrollment period, when children require the most attention. This year, 95 employees (89 in 2020) will use the system.
Eligible employees will have their start time delayed to 10 AM, and although working hours will be shortened, there will be no disadvantages such as reductions in salary or promotions.
