Governor Won emphasized to public officials during the morning video session of the ‘March Communication and Empathy Day’ the following: ▲ implementation of follow-up measures following the passage of the full revision of the April 3 Special Act ▲ smooth progress of COVID-19 vaccinations ▲ strengthening quarantine measures due to the two-week extension of Jeju-style social distancing.
Governor Won said, “On the 26th of last month, the full revision of the April 3 Special Act, a long-standing wish of Jeju residents, was passed,” and expressed gratitude, saying, “This achievement was made possible by the efforts of the April 3 Bereaved Families Association, public officials, all residents of the province, and the earnest hearts of the people.”
He then requested, “Please thoroughly prepare detailed implementation plans for each article of the full revision of the April 3 Special Act to heal the wounds of surviving victims and bereaved families, carefully ensure that realistic compensation for damages is provided, and make every effort in follow-up measures.”
He added, “I hope you will work hard to create a model case of genuine historical reconciliation here in Jeju.”
Regarding the COVID-19 vaccinations that began on the 26th of last month, Governor Won said, “Under any circumstances, all matters related to vaccination must be managed flawlessly and information must be transparently disclosed so that residents can trust it,” and instructed transparent disclosure of vaccination-related information.
He said, “I hope the vaccination proceeds quickly and safely with the trust of the residents so that herd immunity can be established as soon as possible.”
Regarding the extension of Jeju-style social distancing level 1.5 until the 14th, Governor Won emphasized, “Considering the increase in outdoor activities in spring and frequent movement and contact due to school reopening, we must never be complacent,” and stressed, “The greatest enemy of quarantine is complacency.”
He also said, “New confirmed cases must be controlled so that administrative efforts can be more focused on COVID-19 vaccinations,” and urged, “Please carefully monitor the quarantine situation by department heads in charge of their respective fields and seek residents’ cooperation through active communication.”
Governor Won instructed, “Please make every effort for rapid fiscal execution considering the difficult local economy and the urgent circumstances of residents,” and said, “The results of productive discussions for the residents will be promptly applied on site.”
Regarding the suspected larvae report in Seogwipo City that occurred on the 25th of last month, he said, “Please ensure thorough measures for rapid cause identification and prevention of recurrence, and make every effort to maintain stable tap water supply without disruption.”
