[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 2nd that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2020 Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation for Autonomous Districts and Public Service-Related Organizations’ hosted by Gwangju City.
Recently, Gwangju City conducted an anti-corruption policy evaluation targeting a total of eight institutions, including three basic local governments and five public service-related organizations such as Gwangju Technopark, an affiliated institution of the city.
The evaluation indicators included the establishment of anti-corruption promotion plans, the establishment and operation of anti-corruption systems, efforts to eliminate risk factors, and anti-corruption policy performance.
Nam-gu earned the highest score among the three autonomous districts in this evaluation, winning the honor of being selected as an excellent institution.
In particular, the new concept education program ‘100-Minute Live Concert,’ which introduced pansori and skits to reduce the psychological resistance of public officials and create a corruption-free public service society, was highly evaluated for contributing to the spread of an anti-corruption culture.
Additionally, by sharing excellent policies of other local governments such as Gyeongju City, Yeonje-gu in Busan, Suseong-gu in Daegu, and Gurye-gun, Nam-gu formed a consensus within the organization to spread the anti-corruption culture, and closely analyzed the results of the Integrity Measurement by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to improve supplementary measures, which became the driving force for being selected as an excellent institution.
Along with this, to build anti-corruption infrastructure, Nam-gu formed an autonomous internal control committee to strengthen self-purification capabilities and received favorable reviews for preventing public service corruption in advance through the Cheongbaek-e real-time monitoring system.
Furthermore, the slogan “A Gu (Gu) Citizen Happier and More Integrity than Nam (Nam)” was posted at the top of official documents sent for civil complaints, reinforcing the commitment to eradicate corruption in the public service and local community.
A Nam-gu official said, “We will further strengthen anti-corruption policies to eliminate factors of public service corruption through anti-corruption and integrity administration and to establish a fair organizational culture.”
