Gwanak-gu to Train AR·VR Content Production Experts...Selected for Ministry of Employment and Labor Job Contest

Gwanak-gu to Train AR·VR Content Production Experts...Selected for Ministry of Employment and Labor Job Contest

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been finally selected in the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s “Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project” competition.

The “Regional Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project” is a job creation initiative where local governments, non-profit corporations, and organizations form a consortium to discover and propose job projects tailored to regional characteristics, which are then reviewed and selected by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to address local employment issues.

In this nationwide competition targeting basic local governments, Gwanak-gu’s project to train “AR·VR Content Production Experts” was finally selected, securing a national subsidy of 87 million KRW.

The district explained that the project was conceived to enhance employment competitiveness in emerging jobs due to the rapidly increasing demand in AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) related industries amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, this job creation project reflects Gwanak-gu’s regional characteristics, which include the highest youth population ratio (40.4%) in the country and the strong interest of young people in the AR·VR field.

Starting with the national fund support agreement with the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Seoul Gwanak branch on the 25th of last month, the district plans to recruit young people interested in AR·VR content production from March, provide expert training, and support employment and entrepreneurship connections in related fields.

Meanwhile, last year, Gwanak-gu achieved the outcome of securing 240 million KRW in city subsidies by having all three projects it submitted to the Seoul City job competition “2021 City-District Upward and Cooperative Job Creation Project” selected: Small Business O2O Untact Platform, Local Content Product Development Group, and Smart Senior Project.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, said, “We expect that being selected for this competition will lead to the creation of quality jobs tailored to the post-COVID-19 era and regional characteristics,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create jobs for residents who have been struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to revitalize the stagnant local economy.”
