Sejong and Gwacheon Government Office Workers Confirmed with COVID-19 in Succession...Emergency Quarantine Measures Taken (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Among the public officials working at the Government Sejong Complex and the Government Gwacheon Complex, COVID-19 cases have been confirmed one after another, prompting urgent quarantine measures.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Government Complex Management Headquarters announced on the 28th that employees A and B of the Tax Tribunal, who work on the 4th floor of Building 2 at the Government Sejong Complex, tested positive for COVID-19.

Employee A had come to the office on the 25th and 26th, and after a family member tested positive on the morning of the previous day, A was tested and received a positive result that same afternoon. Employee B was additionally confirmed positive during testing conducted on employees in the same department as A.

At the Government Gwacheon Complex, employee C of the Gyeongin Regional Statistics Office also tested positive that morning. C had shown suspicious symptoms on the 26th, underwent specimen testing the previous day, and received the final positive diagnosis that morning.

The Government Complex Management Headquarters urgently disinfected the relevant office within the Tax Tribunal and blocked access to the connecting corridor and elevators on the 2nd floor of the Sejong Complex. The Gwacheon Complex Management Office disinfected the entire complex and required all 210 employees of the Gyeongin Regional Statistics Office to undergo testing and remain at home until the 2nd of next month. Additionally, employees who had contact with the confirmed cases or worked in the same department were instructed to get tested and stay at home.

Recently, sporadic COVID-19 cases have continued to occur within government complexes. On the 13th, an LH employee dispatched to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the Government Sejong Complex tested positive, and on the 22nd, two additional Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport employees were confirmed positive. The day before, one employee of the Ministry of Health and Welfare at the Sejong Complex was diagnosed with COVID-19.
