[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] As the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic continues, the demand from homebodies has increased again last year, leading to the release of various product lines targeting them, mainly in the kitchen appliance industry.

According to the industry on the 28th, kitchen appliance companies are steadily launching kitchen products with enhanced convenience to meet the 'home cooking' demand of homebodies.

Happycall is planning to release a small rice cooker, a high-speed blender, an air fryer, and an induction cooker in the first half of this year, following the line of odd and compact appliances launched last December. In particular, Happycall explained that their hit product, the high-speed blender, will be offered in various product lines tailored to the characteristics of each distribution channel.

Lock&Lock recently launched the 'Jennifer Room Fully Automatic Premium Juicer'. The juicer features a structure where fruit is placed on the pointed juicing cone protruding from the top of the product and gently pressed to automatically make juice. Jennifer Room's juicer is evaluated to target the home cafe demand of homebodies who find it difficult to freely use cafes due to social distancing measures caused by COVID-19. A Lock&Lock official added that it is designed to minimize nutrient destruction through low-speed juicing at 75 RPM rotation per minute.

Hurom plans to launch a food ingredient washer in the first half of this year. In addition, they are developing a model that takes their flagship juicer technology to the next level. The food ingredient washer uses ultrasonic technology to clean vegetables and fruits, providing a product that takes care of both health and hygiene at once, Hurom explained.

An industry insider from the kitchen appliance sector said, "Although vaccinations have recently started, it will take more than half a year to achieve herd immunity, so the demand for kitchen appliances among homebodies is expected to continue increasing for the time being."
