[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 28th that as of the end of January this year, the total number of unsold houses nationwide was 17,130, a decrease of 9.9% (1,875 units) compared to the previous month (19,005 units).
The number of unsold houses nationwide has been on a decreasing trend every year, from 43,268 units in January last year to 33,894 units in May, 28,309 units in September, and 10,900 units in December.
In the metropolitan area, unsold houses decreased by 12.7% (270 units) from 2,131 units in the previous month to 1,861 units, and in the provinces, they decreased by 9.5% (1,605 units) from 16,874 units to 15,269 units.
Unsold houses after completion stood at 10,988 units, down 8.5% (1,018 units) from 12,006 units in the previous month.
Unsold houses after completion have also been on a continuous decline, with 16,084 units in October last year, 14,060 units in November, and 12,006 units in December.
Looking at the total unsold units by size, unsold medium-to-large houses over 85㎡ decreased by 9.0% (63 units) from 700 units in the previous month to 637 units, and those 85㎡ or less decreased by 9.9% (1,812 units) from 18,305 units to 16,493 units.
