Opening of a total 383m sidewalk (4m wide) on Daehan Cable site in front of Geumcheon-gu Office Station

New 4m-wide, 187m-long sidewalk constructed on the east side of the old Daehan Jeonseon site (Geumha-ro 3-gil)... Total 383m sidewalk completed following the 196m opening on Siheung-daero 63-gil in 2019

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has completed the sidewalk construction on the former Daehan Electric Wire site in front of Geumcheon-gu Office Station, carried out by Booyoung Housing since January, and opened it to residents on the 26th.

Following the construction of a 4m wide, 196m long sidewalk along Siheung-daero 63-gil next to the former Daehan Electric Wire site in August 2019, this time a 4m wide, 187m long sidewalk was extended and opened on Geumha-ro 3-gil.

Geumha-ro 3-gil is the road connecting Siheung-daero 63-gil to the east side of the Daehan Electric Wire site.

Both Siheung-daero 63-gil and Geumha-ro 3-gil run alongside the former Daehan Electric Wire site leading to Geumcheon-gu Office Station, making them busy paths for local residents and office workers.

Nevertheless, the narrow sidewalks installed only on one side had caused inconvenience to pedestrians.

With the extension and opening of the sidewalk on Geumha-ro 3-gil, the congestion of pedestrian traffic for office workers commuting between Geumha-ro 3-gil, Siheung-daero 63-gil, and Geumcheon-gu Office Station is expected to be greatly alleviated, ensuring pedestrian safety for residents.

Additionally, the district plans to improve the urban landscape by refurbishing the old barriers on the former Daehan Electric Wire site with new designs containing information about the district’s major projects by March.

Meanwhile, the large-scale complex project combining an 810-bed general hospital and 990-unit apartment complex on the former Daehan Electric Wire site has completed the detailed development plan in November last year, passed the traffic impact assessment in January this year, and is currently undergoing building review procedures.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “The installation of sidewalks on the Daehan Electric Wire site will not only improve pedestrian convenience and safety but also enhance the urban landscape, which is expected to increase resident satisfaction. We will do our best to start construction of the large general hospital and apartment complex as soon as possible.”
