[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and other local governments on the 27th, 307 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed nationwide from 0:00 to 21:00 on that day. This is 67 fewer than the 374 cases reported during the same time frame the previous day.
By region, 248 cases (80.8%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 59 cases (19.2%) in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, there were 118 cases in Gyeonggi, 117 in Seoul, 13 in Incheon, 9 each in Gwangju and Chungbuk, 6 each in Sejong and Jeonbuk, 5 each in Busan and Daegu, 4 each in Ulsan, Chungnam, and Gyeongbuk, 3 in Gangwon, 2 in Gyeongnam, and 1 each in Daejeon and Jeju.
The total number of confirmed cases for the day will be compiled as of 0:00 on the 28th and announced in the morning. Since there is still time until midnight, when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases is expected to increase further to the mid-300s. On the previous day, 41 additional cases were reported after 21:00, bringing the final total to 415.
Meanwhile, the number of new confirmed cases has remained in the 300 to 400 range for a week since the 21st. Daily counts were 416 → 332 → 356 → 440 → 396 → 406 → 415, averaging about 394 cases per day.
