[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Local reports have emerged that a woman protesting against the military coup in Mongyu-a Town, central Myanmar, was shot and killed by military police.


Foreign media such as the British Telegraph cited Myanmar local media News, reporting that a woman was shot and killed in Mongyu-a Town on that day. If this incident is confirmed to be true, the number of civilians killed by gunfire from military police since the Myanmar military coup on the 1st will increase to at least five.


Earlier, on the 9th, Myanmar military police fired live rounds at protesters in the capital Naypyidaw, causing a woman present at the scene to be shot in the head and fall into a brain-dead state, eventually dying after ten days. On the 20th, in Mandalay, the second-largest city, indiscriminate live rounds were fired at protesters, resulting in at least two deaths, including a teenage boy, and dozens injured. On the same night, in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, a man in his 30s from a vigilante group was shot and killed by police.


According to foreign media, police surrounded crowds in Mongyu-a on that day and fired water cannons at protesters. In Yangon, witnesses reported that police advanced while firing tear gas, flash grenades, rubber bullets, and shooting into the air, causing people to scatter into the streets.
